For: 6-8 weeks
Your 6 to 8 week health visitor review is a routine check to see how you and your baby are getting on. It’s a chance to talk about your baby’s growth, development, feeding, and sleep, as well as how you are feeling as a parent. If you have any worries or questions, you are not alone—support and reassurance are available.
Your 6 to 8 week health visitor review is a routine check for you and your baby. It usually happens when your baby is around two months old and is part of the care offered to all families. This is a chance to talk about how your baby is growing and developing, and how life is going for you since the birth. It is also a time to ask questions and share anything that is on your mind.
This review is planned for all families, not just when there is a problem. It is part of regular care to make sure babies are developing as expected and to spot any concerns early. Around this time, babies are changing quickly, and parents may also be adjusting to new routines and emotions. Having this check helps make sure you and your baby are both supported during this stage.
Many parents find this review feels like a relaxed conversation rather than a test. You may be asked about feeding, sleep, your baby’s behaviour, and how you are feeling in yourself. It is normal to have questions or worries at this stage, and you may feel tired, unsure, or more emotional than usual. This is a safe space to talk honestly and get reassurance without judgement.
You should seek help sooner if you are worried about your baby’s health, growth, or behaviour, or if something does not feel right to you. It is also important to ask for support if you are feeling low, anxious, or overwhelmed. You do not have to wait for your review to talk about concerns. Getting help early can make a big difference, and support is available for both you and your baby.
