You are here: Home / Services / School Nursing 5-19 Years
The School Nursing Service supports the health and wellbeing of school-aged children and young people. It delivers the Healthy Child Programme for ages 5 to 19, the National Child Measurement Programme in Reception and Year 6, and Health Needs Assessments in Reception, Year 6 and Year 9. The service also provides health promotion advice and support with health concerns.
School Nurses are registered nurses with a graduate-level public health qualification. Each school has a designated school nurse who coordinates health input and requests for support. The wider School Health Team includes Community Staff Nurses and Healthy Family Support Workers, and works with education colleagues and other agencies.
