New Lancashire Social Value Grants launched to support family-friendly community initiatives

A new Social Value Grants Programme has been launched by the Lancashire Health Visiting and School Nursing Service, offering grants of up to £3,000 to charities and voluntary organisations delivering projects that support the health and wellbeing of children, young people and families across the county.

The grants form part of HCRG Care Group’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community relationships and reducing health inequalities. They complement the wider Lancashire Health Visiting and School Nursing Service, which includes health visiting, school nursing and specialist public health support.

The Social Value Grants aim to help organisations create initiatives shaped around the needs of their local communities. This includes supporting families who may face barriers to accessing services, such as Gypsy Roma Traveller communities, refugees and young people not in education, employment or training. The ambition is to ensure that every child has fair and equal access to the Healthy Child Programme.

To strengthen meaningful engagement across the county, three new Community Engagement Lead posts have been created. Emily Burzacki will support organisations and families in the North locality, David Evans will lead engagement across Central Lancashire, and Claire Lord will focus on communities in the East. Together, they will help build partnerships, identify local needs and guide organisations through the grants process from initial enquiry to submission.

Cathy Allen, Head of Operations for the Lancashire Health Visiting and School Nursing Service, said: “We are delighted to launch these Social Value Grants, which will enable community organisations to deliver projects that reflect what local families need most. By working in partnership with charities and voluntary groups, we can create stronger, healthier and more inclusive communities and ensure that every child has access to the support they deserve.”

Organisations applying for funding will be asked to outline their project, expected benefits and intended outcomes. Applications are reviewed monthly by an independent panel, and all applicants will receive a decision within one month of submitting their form.
